Courier Service Management System

ABSTRACT:

In Courier Services the booked letters and parcels are delivered to the person to whom the customer is asking to deliver. It is like post office. In post office letters are delivered with in particular area but in courier services letters and parcels are delivered even out of district. There are two types of couriers – speed and normal. In speed courier services parcels are delivered within 24hours and in normal courier services parcels are delivered within 2 days. Basically the Courier system involves three major modules Staff, Booking and Delivery. The Courier System get the details from the following tables: 1) Staff Table – Contains Staff details, 2) Booking Table – Contains booking and customer details 3) Delivery Table – Contains Delivery details. The Staff module contains the details of Staff working in the courier office. The details are stored in staff table. In this module we can add staff details and search and delete the staff details in the staff table. The Booking module contains the details of customers who book for courier. These details are stored in booking table. In this module we can add customer details and search and delete the customer details in the staff table. And even we can modify the details in the table. The Delivery module contains the details of customers who booked for courier. These details are stored in Delivery table. In this module we can add the date and other details to the customer details and search and delete the customer details using in the staff table. And even we can modify the details in the table. This project contains three types of Reports. They are 1) Staff Report 2)Booking Report 3) Delivery Report. The main intension of this project is to computerized the whole system and reduce the paper work and also to preserve the data. This project is being developed the XP Operating System. The package developed through ASP.NET as front-end tool and SQL SERVER as back-end tool, which will the user a GUI environment, which makes the system user-friendlier.

EXISTING SYSTEM:

The existing system is a manual one where activity is maintained by files. The courier services are handling around no booking and delivery details. They have to take care about the booking and delivery of the parcels and letters

DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM:

• Manipulation of data is very complex

• Maximum possibilities of error in accounts or calculations, as it’s done in manual way.

PROPOSED SYSTEM:

The Proposed System is eliminating all problem of existing system. And also automate all process in computerized. It should keep record of customer booking and delivery details and so on can be accomplished without much effort
