E-learning system
ABSTRACT:
The growth of learning courseware which exploitsthe use of multimedia presents an active learning environmentfor the slow learners. This method of learning is proven to bean effective tool to be used to educate children with learningdisability. This research was carried out to develop amultimedia courseware namely “Komputer Saya”, which wasspecially designed for the slow learners. This coursewareintegrates Special Education Syllabus for Learning Disabledwith the learning multimedia theme. This paper discusses theframework used for the courseware evaluation and results ofthe usability evaluation; efficiency, ease of learning andsatisfaction attributes. The evaluation conducted was dividedinto two types; the first evaluation is known as user testing andthe second one is heuristic evaluation. Eight slow learners fromspecial education were selected as the participants for the firstevaluation while four teachers and one parent were involved inheuristic evaluation. The results of the usability evaluationindicate that “Komputer Saya” can be used as a leaning tool forthe slow learners as it meets the requirement for its usability interms of efficiency, ease of learning and satisfaction.

EXISTING SYSTEM:
Normal students that do not perform well inacademic; have difficulties and weaknesses with proficiency in three basic skills; reading, writing andarithmetic . They also are categorized as ‘slowlearners’ but do not fall into the category of specialeducation . These slow learners do not showevidence of having medical problem but just simplydo not perform well in school or certain subjects .Special Remedial Class is designed as an attempt tohelp the slow learners until they successfully master those three basic skills.
Slow learners in the group of Special Education for Learning Disabilities program. These students have been confirmed by medical doctor as having disabilities that hold down their learning processes.The disabilities include cognitive, language, speaking, reading, arithmetic, development, social and behaviour skills . They are not able to learn in normal or remedial class and curriculum, too slow to achieve very simple objectives, short attention span and poor concentration skills. They are taught based on specialized curriculum and special trained teachers.
DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM:
- They imply a high entry barrier for educators and students who have to learn the new tools. This is a well-known problem related to the usage of IT solutions as education-supporting elements.
- Learners with low motivation or bad study habits may fall behind
- Without the routine structures of a traditional class, students may get lost or confused about course activities and deadlines
- Instructor may not always be available when students are studying or need help
- Slow Internet connections or older computers may make accessing course materials frustrating
- Managing computer files and online learning software can sometimes seem complex for students with beginner-level computer skills
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
In this paper analysis of user’s need is essential in order to design anddevelop a tool that can assist them accordingly. A preliminary analysis was carried out at early stage of this project, using survey, class observations and interviews asinstruments for the evaluations. This analysis was carried outto determine the learning characteristics of slow learners before designing a suitable courseware as learning tool thatcan suite their abilities and learning styles.Survey, interview with teachers and class observationshas been conducted at two schools that provide SpecialEducation Integration Program for Learning Difficultiesstudents. This analysis has resulted on the learningcharacteristics of slow learners, problems with current ICTapplications in their classroom and suggestion onimprovement by designing a suitable learning courseware.Information obtain from this analysis, combining with studyon suitable instructional design for slow learners as well asanalysis on learning theories have been very useful asreference for work in further research of this project on later stages.
ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM:
The multimedia elements used in developing the coursewarehave given a great impact to improve learning process especiallyto slow learners. The reason why the use of suchelements could help in improving their ability to understandthings easily and at the same time complement the needs ofchildren with learning disabilities is because the ability topresent the same information into different forms such assounds, text and image which allow them to obtain multipleexposures

MODULES DESCRIPTION:
Authentication Module
In this module, user authentication is done according to the role based access control. A new user has to register for access the content of our system. Registered user logins with the registered username and password.
Course Material Module
The new user/student will take up the course material module first. Before that the user/student should select the course which he/she is going to take up. Example: Java or dot net or etc. After that the course contents are displayed and user should read the contents available. Then the user can navigate to the pages.
Examination Module
After the Course material module, the user/student will be taking up the examination module. In the examination module, the user/student will be allocated some question and time for it.
Content Management Module
The module functionalities are:
- User Information
- Uploading the content permanently
- Uploading the content temporally
- Removing the content permanently
- Removing the content temporally
- Working options
- Caching Feature
- Content length for each Category
These are the pages that are associated with the logic pages, and contain content specific to that page.
- Organizing the topics according to the category
- Organizing the subtopics according to the subcategory
- Providing appropriate links to specified category
- A mechanism to export and import data from and to XML files
- Generating maps for specific category
- Providing a quiz after completion of specified course
Evaluation Module
The module functionalities are:
- Preparing the question paper randomly according to the category
- Spot result evaluation
- Specifying level of evaluation
