Secure Biometric Authentication in Healthcare Sector Using Visual Cryptography
Today’s global security has taken a step further by not using passwords every time they want to login. An increase in the use of biometric authentication has been extremely popular and used widely in various applications like finger authentication in laptops, facial recognition to unlock a phone, voice recognition in maps and amongst others. Use of biometric authentication is a method of recognizing individual’s behavioral or physical characteristics. This project is a proposal on providing secure biometric authentication using Visual Cryptography in Healthcare system. The system will use biometric authentication using facial recognition that is used to capture the image and store it using secured symmetric encryption technique. Biometric authentication systems are gaining widespread popularity in recent years due to the advances in sensor technologies as well as improvements in the matching algorithms. Preserving the privacy of digital biometric data stored in a central database has become of paramount importance. VCS is a cryptographic technique that allows for the encryption of visual information such that decryption can be performed using the human visual system. This work implements visual cryptography for colour images in a biometric application. Also implements pseudo random sequence generator based initial encryption process and least significant bit (LSB) based shares hiding process to increase the security. This work presents a security system using combination of cryptography and stegnography to enhance the security. The project modules have a strong authentication and robustness scheme.
